i read somewhere in the forum that repeating the same petition causes doubt so I don’t want to do that either

Was it Saturn? My 3rd pentacle of Saturn does that. It will light up and always self extinguishes - it’s never made 6 hours for me.
Relight it I try 3xs. If it doesn’t light spirit is not accepting your request. Don’t be alarmed. It does happen.
