I also have these (don’t mind the lack of sheet on the bed, I’m doing laundry 😆”
I can’t find them right now cuz so much of my stuff is packed up but I have these two as well:
There are other books that might have good info in them, that I won’t pay for, but I do have a huge google doc folder full of PDFs of a lot of books by those authors ie Denise Alvarado, Starr Casas etc.
I believe in a “taking what you can use and discarding the rest“ approach.
You should also get these books as well if you can.
This one by Katrina Hazzard is really good because she goes into a lot of the history of Hoodoo and also unpacks the issues surrounding the colonization and cultural appropriation of Hoodoo, and how lots of white authors rewrite history and try to claim it was created by white folks. Lots of history and good info.
I just ordered the hoodoo tarot, rootwork and sticks stones roots and bones. . .the hoodoo tarot will also be my first tarot deck. I am a true beginner. Lol seeking true understanding of spirits and the dos and don'ts. Following instructions that come with the candles are appreciated and helpful but I desire my own understanding of what I'm working with❤❤❤
Ok because I had took a screen shot of the stack of books she had and this one wasn't in it. Its by an African-american lady. But I did order some off Amazon just waiting on them to get here

Rootwork is good too. I’ve had it for years (LONG time).

Yup! I recommended it! She also has one called 365 Days of Hoodoo. I always try to buy Hoodoo and Voodoo books from black authors first and foremost.
I have this one it’s very good.

I order it and it’s coming this week coming. Someone I know said it’s good, it’s a book she recommended on her Instagram feed.
Yes, I think this is one of the books Lala recommended. If not her, someone else in this forum did.
