Not burning halo first.

I'm all new to this and was wondering. I didn't know it was recommended to burn halo first. I burned sweetening then in the next couple of weeks burned the rekindle candle. I bought another sweetening and halo and still have plenty left of rekindle. Once I received halo in the mail, I'm burning it immediately, then sweetening again. I wanted to know with not burning halo first, would that mess up the process, take longer and as soon as I burn halo, do I have to buy the rekindle candle again to burn it, or just stick with what I have left? Another question, as soon as I burn halo, would that speed up the process with the rekindle candle? Me and my off and on again bf got into it last month to make a long story short. I do notice some signs though in regards to the rekindle candle, but we're not taking at the moment.
