Soooooooo..I had ordered Erzulie and Papa Legba but chickened out at the last minute and told Ms. Lala to change them to 5th of Mercury and 1st of Saturn. She responded and said my order has been updated, but if i get them anyway, I am going to freak, but i will know its meant to be. Am I tripping for nothing?😱

@Sonia Suell
What are you afraid of?? @BizzyLizzy
I too have been hesitant to work with deities until I did more research about them and my own personal power. I wasn’t ready and thats ok! Also, like many of you my space is limited to one room and I already have 2 altars set up (personal and ancestral). I’ve been collecting offerings for Legba and Freda for weeks. What helped me feel more at ease yesterday was laying out all of my offerings along with Legba’s candles and talking to it. I was so anxious beforehand but once I started talking I felt a calm feeling take over me and that was my confirmation!! I could feel the his energy and it put me at ease which is exactly what I needed. I still haven’t lit the candle but I am no longer fearful! Also- for the the time being I will keep an altar box for Legba until I have more space. As long is you are coming from the heart you will be fine.

What do we do with the petitions we write for both a candles after lighting the candles for more than 6 hours?
@Bee Some ppl keep their altars up permanently but i dont think you have to.
@TheChosenOne♎️ The answer to your question as to why the Orishas are considered evil in Nigeria is that Europeans had to convince Africans that their spirituality was evil, savage and inferior in order for it to be possible to enslave their brothers and sisters. It's all about creating the superiority/inferiority fallacy. They convinced them that everything about them was evil and inferior and Africans bought into it and still are to date buying into the lie. Part of the deliberate lie they told about Esu/Eshu/Elegba/Papa Legba is that he is the devil and that's why some are so fearful. The truth is though that Esu/Eshu/Elegba/Papa Legba is the messenger.....the translator of human language into Orisha language.....the holder of all keys and the gatekeeper. So in essence when they cause us to be fearful of the very spirit who makes things happen, is there any doubt how they kept us enslaved and subjugated for so long?
@JadeDragon I've read on here that the altar doesn't have to be permanent, but I don't know. From what I've read online, it seems that a permanent altar maybe preferable. IDK
Ok So What Does One Do If You Can't Keep A Permanent Altar For Example For Papa Legba I Don't Want To Disrespect Him Any Insight Is Greatly Appreciated 🙏💫💥🕯
@TheChosenOne♎️ Yes, the Orishas are used by evil ppl for evil purposes in Nigeria. They are usually some type of blood sacrifices and some even require the death of an individual. So when all your life that's all you know about orishas and have witness the negative and damage impact the practice has had on the society and culture as a whole, its hard to fathom that there is a positive side to something so evil. I had to do further research on my own for months before i felt comfortable enough to buy Ms. Lalas candle, just starting myself really.
@TheChosenOne♎️ Exactly, i dont want to start something i cannot finish, nor do i want papa legba and Erzulie to feel disrespected by my mothers feelings and thoughts on the matter. I know i wont be able to keep a permanent altar.
@JOURNEY2FINDWHOI'MMEANT2BE! That's just it, we are africans and my mom has had experience with this type of practices and thinks she's an expert on the subject matter. Some practices in Nigeria are Black magic and very evil and she doesn't think there is a difference between black and white magic. It's just a whole situation, only way ill be able to practice this like i want is to put a lock on my door and secure my space.
Oook got u
@Butterflies06 If it were just ppl...no problem, I could care less, but this is my mama, the woman that born me, i would be lying my ass off if i said her opinion of me dont matter. But i work on it, think about putting a lock on my door.
@BizzyLizzy u DNT owe nobdy No explanation ..Let them Talk.. ppl always going to do that !!!!
@Butterflies06 My situation is more so fear of the criticism and judgment. I'm a Libra and I dont like repeating or xplaning myself. It frustrates the heck out of me.
@Malikah Zafirah Thefear is that my elderly, very Christian and Nigerian mother lives with me and i just dont have the privacy for a permanent altar. Just the other day I put this up on my wall behind my altar and she was all like " What is that animal on your wall, you are worshipping idols now"? 🙄 So though its my house and this is in the privacy of my room , i still get all kinds of questions and sermon. She knows about Orishas because we are from Nigeria and it is viewed and deemed as evil in our culture. Sorry so long just needed to explain a lil more about my situation.
