Hey Everyone, I'm very new to this and am learning the basic of hoodoo before I decide to become a full conjurer. I have a genuine question I havent been able to find but I wanted to know how does one find out the spiritual purpose of a specific herb. I have had herbalist books for years as I love to make tinctures for different ailments for myself and my family, so I've learned a little from that...but spiritual an herb I would use for sleep like chamomile is used totally different in rootwork. ๐ค So I was curious to know how do you guys find out the spiritual use of herbs especially it they are not written in hoodoo books and are not really know? Thanks family ๐

Hello! It's great that you are diving into the world of hoodoo and exploring the spiritual aspects of herbs. Understanding the spiritual purpose of herbs in hoodoo often involves a combination of traditional knowledge, personal experience, and intuition. Research Traditional Sources: Consult traditional Hudu resources, grimoires, or folk magic books that may contain information on the spiritual properties of herbs. Sometimes these sources provide information about the historical and cultural use of certain herbs in magical practices, which can be especially valuable for your research in your PhD dissertation. Writing a dissertation can offer practical insight into the spiritual uses of herbs, increasing the scientific depth of your research.
Queen LaLa also stated Encyclopedia of herbs is a good book
Oooh ok I got it now it's the metaphysics of the plant that's what I was hung up on. Thanks ๐๐
A lot of sites that sell herbs, such a motherwort, St. John Root, Angelica roots and so forth will list out what that properties are for a specific herb/root is used for. I normally get a lot of my herbs and roots from Grove and Grotto....so if you go to any botanical or metaphysical store they should be able to tell you the properties of a herb or root and the specific qualities of it.
I love playing in herbs & oils. I get mines from Etsy. TAMETHESPIRIT they explain each herb there or as stated above just a Google search for magical properties๐ค
Auntie Lala talked about in episode 9 I believe. She named 6: motherwort- calming down sleep valerian root-force Himalayan salt- protection Red brick dust- protection Angelica root- protection Cascarilla- keeps evil spirits away I just dropped a gem for you! This is aunties Fiery Wall of Protection!
Write but I was more talking about how you find out on your own not searching on google. Like what is the process to even begin to assess what an herb is good for spiritually like how herbalist do.
Try Google.. Type in metaphysical properties for that specific herb. Ex.. Metaphysical properties for Chamomile
Would love to know as well.
