Hey I posted this earlier but no one seemed to answer but I wanted to learn more from some fellow in regards to an ancestor altar , what are your experiences ? What things should I consider ?
A person who has committed suicide does need prayers and light also, even more so I think. They obviously wasn’t of sound mind (for whatever the reason) and they should not be excluded just because of the way they chose to leave this realm.
People that are living are of this realm but people that are deceased no longer belong to this realm. You’re creating a space for the dead. It’s not a good idea to add living relatives even if they’re in a picture with the decedent, you don’t want to attract or pull that energy before it’s a person’s time to leave this realm.
Well for one .... don’t ever place a picture of the living with the deceased on there. For 2 .... always have water for them . For 3 ...always have a white candle for them. I’ll have to give you the rest once I wake up. Hope this helps
If you’re wanting to get to know your ancestors and have them get to know you better then set up your altar. What you put in is what you get out of it, meaning that if you spend time with and have patience to listen, and learn you will get to know them (ancestors) and it will enhance your connection to them. It’s not something that happens overnight. It takes time. But, the more you do it the more it becomes second nature. Your altar can be as elaborate as you want or as simple as you want. There’s no wrong or right way. You must have some basic things on your altar like water, white candle, white tablecloth, flowers, write all your deceased relatives on a piece of paper if you don’t have pictures of them, a bible or whatever religious book you use (Qu’ran, Kojiki, Talmud, Tipitaka), etc. You can add anything that your ancestors liked, like liquor, cigars, cigarettes, candy, etc.
Thank you all ❣️❣️❣️

Any ancestors that committed suicide are not recommended to place there.
Also and ancestors that you don’t have pictures of you may write their names... first and last and place it in a frame as representation for them

I do. You have to be a little more specific. What do you mean?
